This is in response to the increasing challenges posed by the COVID 19 pandemic:
On April 30th Governor Ducey of Arizona extended his “Stay at Home and Stay Connected” Executive order to May 15, while allowing some places including restaurants and recreational activities, to reopen slowly.
For those of you who already have tickets to Sistas, The Musical, that had been scheduled to open on that day and run through May 31, we will honor those tickets during the run of the production in our upcoming new season.
As you well know many organizations are in positions that threaten their continued existence and that this pandemic has put many at risk. Some will not survive. The upcoming weeks are going to be the most challenging that Black Theatre Troupe has experienced in its five decades of continuous operation.
Since August 1, 1970 The Valley of the Sun has grown to rely on The Black Theatre Troupe to not only entertain, but to illuminate those experiences of our shared humanity from our stage. You have been able to rely on us to provide you with some of the country’s most courageous theater and we have relied on your support.
As we quickly work to develop new survival strategies that will be critical to our financial and cultural survival in these uncertain times, we realize that there is so much need in the country. You have many choices as to where to direct your emergency contributions.
Giving now to the Black Theatre Troupe will support our fight to survive and help us navigate these turbulent times that we are all facing.
Thank you for your belief in and support of the importance of Black Theatre Troupe.
“This too shall pass”
